Special Infrastructure

ACE is contracted to perform all new traffic signal installations for the City of Calgary, in addition to upgrades of existing infrastructure.

Our work includes the underground installations and the setting and dismantling of steel structures. The steel setting crew consists of three or four men, a hydraulic boom truck, a customized pole trailer capable of carrying street light standards and several bucket trucks. Staff can assemble the entire steel assembly for an intersection in a single day. An average traffic intersection takes approximately 10 days to complete, not including the 10 day curing period required for the concrete bases that are typically poured in place.

ACE installs all types of communication cables, including copper and fibre optic, by plowing, trenching, pulling and blowing in duct banks or overhead construction. ACE has a full fleet of equipment along with experienced operators and personnel to accomplish any task, including telephone cable splicing.

ACE performs these projects under all types of contractual arrangements, including on a turnkey basis, from inception to commissioning. ACE crews have completed nearly 2,000 kilometres of underground fibre optic installations including projects from Fort McMurray, Alberta to the United States border. Other services include aerial cable placement and removal, trenching, conduit systems and underground cable placement.
