Suncor EDD56 Substation
Fort McMurray, Alberta
This project consisted of a major expansion to an energized 72kV substation, including the installation of a new ring bus expansion with the addition of one breaker and five horizontal motor operated disconnect switches. From the ring bus, one tap-off 72kV line was run which fed three portable 72kV shovel substations. This facilitated expansion of the steep-bank mine area, allowing efficient utilization of oil sands reserves.
This challenging project was completed on time and on budget. Due to the excellent team-work and attitude of our ACE crew personnel, and the great support from our subcontractors as well as the Suncor Project team members.
In words of TransAlta's Personnel: 'The work performed on the new 72 kV power line has been performed with the utmost level of excellence. We greatly appreciate the time and effort spent on quality workmanship by ACE CONSTRUCTION. '
