ATCO Electric Overhead Distribution

Various Locations, Alberta

Our contract with ATCO Electric involved constructing new and maintaining the existing overhead distribution infrastructure.

CHIPYWAN LAKE
ACE had a seven men crew, 2 diggers and trailers to build approximately three miles of a three phase 25 kV tie line between a new and preexisting substation. In order to get the job done, ACE depended on the coordination with brushers, snow plowers and the local residents. ACE successfully completed this job in seventeen days.

SNIPE LAKE
ACE supplied three crews with diggers, trailers and nodwells to replace approximately 165 poles on a three phase oil field. Many poles were located in very wet locations; ACE crews had to deal with a major amount of snow on this job as well. ACE was responsible for the coordination of both small and large outages.

PENN WEST Ð S.W. OF HIGH PRAIRIE
ACE supplied three crews with diggers, trailers and nodwells to build approximately seven miles of line to feed multiple oil field sites. Work was done during extreme cold weather during excessive snow fall during the fall of 2006. This job consisted of changing the existing line from one phase to three phase, and changing feeds for existing customers as well as salvaging existing overhead lines. Coordination with the High Prairie office was done in order to keep the power outages to an absolute minimum.

PENN WEST Ð EAST OF HIGH PRAIRIE
ACE built approximately six miles of a three phase line to feed multiple sites for Penn West. This included leaning two miles of line, converting approximately fourteen customers to 14.4 kV, and salvaging three miles of existing line. This job consisted of road pushes in two locations and the installation of riser poles as required. There were numerous engineering changes on this job and ACE worked to make these changes happen as well as suggest alternatives.

SMOKEY LAKE

ACE coordinated a pole change in the Smokey Lake area which included both three phase and single phase poles. This job included all the first calls, outage planning, and switiching. During the job ATCO built small taps which had a time concern. ACE also assisted with storm trouble as well as the disposal of old poles as per ATCO standards.
