Project Manager - Transmission Lines
TRANSMISSION PROJECT MANAGER ROLE OBJECTIVE:
This position is specifically for Transmission Line Projects. The role includes estimating and pre-construction services, and organization, planning and execution of projects procured, including effective project management and operation of work crews for our Transmission Division.

To effectively complete the responsibilities of this position, the candidate must be able to complete the following:
Business Development and Preconstruction
- Working with the V.P. Operations, conduct marketing efforts and business development of the Transmission Projects division, out of the Calgary office. Identify, pursue, and develop Transmission Projects leads and market opportunities. Negotiate and, with the assistance and approval of V.P. of Operations, secure Transmission construction projects.
- Assist in the networking and marketing of the corporation to Owners, Consultants, and other clients. Assist in planning and business development for the corporation by identifying, following up, and pursuing project leads and market opportunities in all work divisions.
- Responsible for successful planning of Transmission projects, including profitability, effective project management, costing, risk management, scheduling, safety performance, and administration, all in accordance with ACE policies, procedures and processes.
- Collaborate with ACE estimating department in the preparation of tenders and proposals as required and as appropriate.
- Provide recommendations on project methods, materials, equipment, and systems.
- Keep abreast of and advise V.P. of Operations and clients of personnel issues, the labour market, potential union activity, legislation, regulations, insurance issues and other project risks.
Project Execution
- Responsible for successful execution of Transmission projects, including profitability, effective project management, costing, risk management, scheduling, safety performance, and administration, all in accordance with ACE policies, procedures and processes.
- Responsible for all project site staff including field supervisors, foremen, and individual workers. Determine project staffing requirements, and assist in recruiting strategies and implementation, evaluations, and wage reviews.
- Organize and supervise all site staff, subcontractors, equipment, and materials in the most efficient and expedient manner to maximize efficiency and profitability.
- Monitor jobs progress, availability of personnel, equipment requirements, job morale, adequacy of work force and subcontractor performance. Ensure maintenance of quality standards and compliance with job requirements and specifications. Review job costs and schedules with field supervision and enact remedial action if/as required.
- Assist in the review and analysis of project status reports, cost reports, and schedules. Provide projections, forecasts, and direction to accounting and administration regarding projects and related matters.
- Foster team spirit and camaraderie among staff to achieve an efficient and productive performance.
- As per established procedures, actively pursue accounts receivables for payment. If necessary, and after consultation with Senior Management initiate any extraordinary collections proceedings.
- Review, and approve for payment, material supply and subcontract invoices prior to submission for processing and payment.
- Prepare and submit weekly reports to Senior Management. Provide input to monthly and other reports as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 15 or more years of related experience, including field operations.
- Professional Engineer or Registered Technologist certification, or technical trade certification (Power Lineman).
